About the Chef

My passion for good food:

I love good food, particularly good healthy food. For me there is joy in going to the local farms to purchase my produce, buy what local products I can, and use them. This fresh food is full of vitality, is delicious and helps one to feel good. When I put a beautiful meal together I want to share that with folks so they may know the satisfaction that can come from a wholesome meal shared with family at the dinner table. I believe that the process of proper handling, preparing and presentation of food can provide for others an example of good healthy eating.

Life and Career:

Since I was a teenager I have been a foody. Cooking for my younger siblings when my mother was busy got me started. My first homemade pizza was from a box, we’d microwave hotdogs in their buns and made thousands of tiny pancakes that we ate until we could eat no more. Home economics cooking classes were my favorite; I can always remember getting upset with the students that thought it was a big joke, cooking was what I wanted to do.

Off to college following a trail that others thought would be best for me. There I learned about food and what effect it could have on ones body. My desire to figure out how I could help folks live healthy lives brought me to nursing school and an R.N. status. My feeling was that I would be able to guide people in the right direction in terms of their health and remaining healthy. Through many years of working with people in the hospital setting and studying about nutrition, diets, cooking and their connection to good health, I realized that I needed to approach this at a different level, cooking for others. I have since graduated from Branford Hall Career Institute, a certified culinary arts school and have worked at one of the top health resorts in the country.

My adventures have also taken me down the route of cooperative shopping. As a member and coordinator of the local food coop through the United Buying Clubs for the past twenty years, I have had exposure to purchasing, and cooking with healthy whole foods. These many life experiences bring me to you now desiring to teach and develop within your family the joy that can be found in eating as a family the delicious, healthy food prepared for you.
